More Non-Revenue Generating Land for Park Ridge?–Updated: 07/02/2012

Maybe they really want that space for those new trendy lacrosse fields!

                       It’s a done deal!

Youth Campus - Google Earth - Small - Cropped - Blocked

Park Ridge Park District Commissioners created a mess and put senior’s through 19 months of hell because Senior Center revenue could not cover a projected $160,000 or 1.33% shortfall on a $12,000,000 budget for 2011.  Now these intellectual giants want to put their fellow taxpayers in hock for another six to eight million bucks?

Rubbish!

Park District does not lack park space.

It lacks tax revenue!

Of course, there’s always TIFF!  Where’s Frimark?

What do you think?

Of course, its just my opinion.

Could this be the PERFECT site to erect a T-Mobile tower? Money comes with that. The same neighbors who disallowed the installation of one in the open space to the East, probably have forgotten about that 2009-10 District debacle at NE Park. Parks people already seem to whine about lacking funds to maintain current properties and programs. Why not use all that money to provide economically based services for the people whose money it really is. anyway. The Country Club is a lovely open space across the street from where the purchase is proposed.

I think you're absolutely right.

Park Ridge has more underutilized park space than it needs. We don't need it! Look, there's a park with tennis courts on the next block. It's large enough to a lacrosse field!

Times are bad. Last week, even Biden finally admitted we are in a depression.

Taxes are high now and will get higher next year with the expected tax increases Federal State and real estate. Why would you place additional unnecessary debt on your neighbors?

If commissioners are that financially well off where they feel the need to give away more of their wealth, I suggest putting more of that undertaxed money on the plate at St. Paul of the Cross for the next year. At least that donation won’t be wasted!

We need to tell the Commissioners to take this idea off the table and focus on making the parks and facilities we already own better. Millions previously taxed dollars have been already squired away for that purpose.

We don't know what it will cost, or how it will be paid for yet. This is all speculation. Let's hold our judgement until we see the plan.

Are you suggesting the news release in Advocate on Thursday last was typical Park District hogwash that suggested District offices were to relocate from the Maine Park facility, etc. etc. Interesting that Youth Campus folks said not even for sale at this point.

Bless the requirement that residents need to vote to approve or disapprove the action. Did notice that Commissioner Thillens expressed the plan (that is not a plan) was viewed very favorably by the Youth Campus Board.

Great location for a water park, since all the pools in town are being shut down. Centrally located, plenty of space for parking.

The Park District is taxing us to death and continues to cry poor mouth. This is such a complete waste of money, I can't believe it. The Park District should start maintaining the properties they presently own, rather than spending money on unnecessary purchases. They allowed Oakton pool to go down hill until it was too expensive to repair. The whirl pool at the Community Center was leaking for months and nothing was done about it until now. The locker room in the Community Center isn't cleaned properly just to name a few things. Vote NO on this referendum. Enough taxes that aren't efficiently managed.
