Last Senior Center contract to end in 11 days!

Well, that would have been the headline had Park Ridge Park District Board of Commissioners exhibited a bit of common sense and accepted the contract agreement negotiated by then Executive Director Ray Ochromowicz and Board Attorney Tom Hoffman almost two years ago.

Joint PRPD SSI Agreement

Although I could illustrate several unfortunate results brought about by the short-sighted senior-centered actions of the O’Brien, Wynn-Ryan and Biagi lead Boards; let me just give you one.

Making a Difference

A cliché  commonly used by people in “public service”, is their wish “to make a difference”!

Well, the O’Brien, Wynn-Ryan and Biagi lead Boards have surely  made a difference

Unfortunately for many Park Ridge seniors and other concerned taxpayers, not all differences are for the better!

Happy Holidays to you!

I am assuming you throw the 37,000 out there as a measure of the incredible uprising against the board, or something like that, right?? Of at the least a measure of the huge interest in this issue.

hmmmmm....let's take a closer look, shall we?? I mean you are a guy who loves to dig into the details!!

From Jan 20, 2011 to December 21 2012 covers almost 2 years, correct. Let's call it about 690 days.

As an aside, a "view" or page view is simply a measurement of a requesto to load your site. When I went to my favorites a few minutes ago and clicked on your site, that counted as a "view".

So lets consider these numbers. 37,000 views devided by 690 days equated to 53.62 views per day. Let's keep in mind that these 53 views are not necessairly unique readers. If I check your site to see if you have posted anything new that counts as one of the 53. If I check again while reading my e-mail from home at night that counts as another and so on.

If you will allow me to guess, I would bet that there are some folks who are very pationate about this site and the issue you address that "view" this site 3-4 or more times per day. Even if the check for new posts by you or other readers that counts as a view. Heck if you look at the back and forth betwooen you and the other blogger that counts as quite a few views right there. Remember that even if you check the site to see if he replied that counts as a view.

So while I congratulate you on the site and the dialogue generated, I do have to wonder about the true size of the audience you are reaching. I mean a very small number of people who are very pationate about this issue could easily generate these numbers.

Anon: December 22, 2012 12:43 PM,

Thank you! Congratulations accepted.

Now, I don’t know if you’re new to the blog, but long time BoSI readers know four things about me as they relate to the Park Ridge Park District created Senior Center brouhaha.

1.) I don’t care if there is a “Senior Center” in Park Ridge under the auspices of the Park Ridge Park District.

2.) I do care how citizens are treated by their elected officials.

3.) I do care about the integrety of those elected officials; and

4.) the total number of views is less important to me that the quality and mix of viewership.

Anon, YOU are the reason I blog!

YOU are an important part of the Park Ridge community! YOU took the time to read the post. YOU took the time to perform the math. YOU took your limited pre-Christmas time to write your opinion.

I can only surmise I’ve succeeded!

On this Christmas Eve day, your commitment to the conversation is appreciated.

Happy Holidays!

Fair enough!! I was simply responding to the large box you put on your post highlighting the 37,000 that was clearly put there for a reason or to offer evidence of.....something?? Oh well!!

Happy Holidays to you as well.

I've been so busy with the holidays and travel, I haven't had time to visit this blog at all, therefore, hadn't read this post. Anonymous states that he checks the blog from "work" and from "home" when reading his email. This is a very interested viewer and also one who works. He, therefore, is not a retired senior. To check the blog twice a day indicates someone who is deeply concerned about this issue, and my guess is probably a member of the Park District Board. Who else would take the time to try and diminish your 37,000 views; which by the way, I think is quite an accoplishment. Congratulations!
